He's probably the first guy on TV to talk about this subject critically after a whole week has gone by.
Also, I used to think it was a dirty trick what republicans did to keep Merrick Garland out of the Supreme Court. The talking point was that he was a "moderate" and reasonable choice and the republicans rejected compromise. Holy fucking shit I am glad now they pulled that stunt every time I hear that guy talk. Imagine that piece of shit on the Supreme Court.
Also, regarding "climate change," I've watched over the past 50 years how the water level of Lake Michigan is either "catastrophically" high or low every few years, about 2 foot variation.
I don't ever remember a news report that said everything is Kool and the Gang with Lake Michigan water levels; it's always a crisis.
Oh yeah, that 1970s "Ice Age" fear porn never froze us out either.
The French have no right to be French or to national self-determination:
French Conservatives Slam Push By Macron'''s Deputy To Legalize Voting For All Foreigners In Municipal Elections | ZeroHedge
In addition to allowing foreigners to vote, they will be allowed to hold political office.
The problem is that there is such a thing as a "political office", in the first place. It doesn't really matter which nationalities end up in it.
Why are french politicians better than non-french politicians based on something they had no control or merit over, which is their birthplace?
There cannot be a national self-determination when the "self" is made up of millions of different individuals. If there was such a thing, then this problem wouldn't even exist because a French born self-determined politician would never allow it to happen, right?
I think the French have a right to do what they've done best in history, which is cutting off heads.
All of your posts remind me of when I was a 17 year old who had just discovered the concept of cultural relativism. I let everyone know that I knew everything, in the most annoying way possible.
Anyway, we get it, everything is social construct. Those of us who wish to live in a civilized society have made peace with that, so go ahead and assume that everything we say assumes as much. Civilized society, after all, is the prima facie social construct.
This seems to be a bit overblown.
In France, foreign residents, like yours truly, have for a long time been allowed to vote in local elections, modulo registering themselves into the electoral roll, which is a fairly simple procedure. This seems a reasonable arrangement; the local council levies taxes on residents, and they have a say on its running.
Allowing foreigners to hold office (I suppose it means local office, not the Assemblee Nationale) seems an innovation (I use the word without any judgemental connotation); in the light of the above, it doesn't strike me as particularly pernicious, although I reserving judgement on this.
