They had exposure to a broad range of ages in those closest to them, and learned skills from their elders while young. Fathers and mothers would teach skills as the children were older and more independent. Life was slower and more intentional. What people call mental presence was how people of all ages lived their daily existence. Core values and beliefs were taught and shared by all.

Is it any wonder that children who are homeschooled, though they may have those awkward stages, grow into well-adjusted and well-educated young adults? And that they share the core values of their family and community?

Is it also any wonder that kids raised in a school largely surrounded by dozens or hundreds of children close to their age policed (loosely) by a few adults aren't "well socialized"? Who engage in their tablets and phones instead of the people and world around them? Who hear and learn foreign concepts, values and beliefs that aren't aligned with their families and churches? Not to mention there's hardly much community outside of small towns. Or family for children to have.

What hell have we done to ourselves in the name of progress and technology? What are we doing to our children?
I still believe public school stunted my social development, it didn't help it. The first year I went to college I was at the point where I averaged about 5 words spoken out loud every day. Schools tend to end up with fucked up cultures dictated by the most sociopathic.

After the npc says "what about socialisation" I ask them "what do you mean by socialisation" and ask them how they get that at school. Always good for ending a conversation.

Homeschooling sounds like a great idea until it dawns on you that:
    1. The parents themselves were probably so badly let down by the poor standard of their own school education that they lack the cognitive tools and breadth of understanding to effectively pass on their intellectual and cultural inheritance to their children. This is always the problem with arguing for better schools of any kind. You can do all sorts of things to make a school better in theory, but who is going to teach in it?
    2. In the 21st Century West means it is often no longer possible to maintain a decent standard of living without both parents in full-time jobs.
    3. Since the invention of the iPhone and since the pandemic restrictions in particular, children are increasingly isolated and stay indoors at home whenever they are not in school. Homeschooling in isolation is a very different prospect to homeschooling with a supportive community of like-minded families around you.

I am all in favour of the idea, but these are difficult problems to address.

And yet, thousands and thousands of parents not only do so, but don't even see them as problems.

Yes, having kids is difficult. But probably not as difficult as having them destroyed by the government schools. It's a shitty situation, for sure. There are much better curricula available for not much money than what is taught in the government schools. Standards of living can be adjusted, if necessary. And homeschooling in isolation means that the nearest government school is dozens of minutes away too. But seriously, read your point 1 out loud, and think about how silly it sounds to send your kids to the same system that rendered you incapable of teaching them arithmetic and English grammar. And spelling ("favour"?). You clearly haven't thought about this very much.

    This is fun!

In August 2020, Gallup released a poll indicating that 10% of parents planned to homeschool in the coming year, double the previous percentage.
There are far in excess of 2 million kids homeschooled by parents who value their kids futures over their current standard of living.

And now, this week's installment of Why Are You Still In California?

    Gavin Newsom
    @GavinNewsom
CEO of Target Brian Cornell selling out the LGBTQ+ community to extremists is a real profile in courage.

This isn’t just a couple stores in the South. There is a systematic attack on the gay community happening across the country.

    Wake up America.

    This doesn’t stop here. You’re black? You’re Asian? You’re Jewish? You’re a woman?

    You’re next.

"In the South." Amazing. I really hope he's the nominee in 2024.

Target is being held hostage by an anti-LGBTQ campaign

And this guy, Nathaniel Meyersohn, CNN, can write speeches for him.

    Just an observation.

During COVID lockdown. The teachers unions had such domination over politics that they could say anything and people would cave. Their main argument for safety was to protect old vulnerable teachers from filthy children. As if they were all 70year olds. Most were certainly younger and many in their early/mid twenties. Why wasn’t this questioned immediately as BS?

This may be the dumbest question you've ever asked, Barry.

What sold me on homeschooling is just knowing teachers in real life, as an adult. I've known several teachers, across several states, and at best they're hopelessly mediocre, at worst they're half retarded.
