Wouldn’t it be preferred to fast for 5 days or more, especially important for those with wasting diseases, rather than strength training? I’ve been assured that the medical evidence supports fasting. The longer the better.

Very good, thank you, Doc, for putting all the ratio in one place.

    Just a minor slip:
    daily protein intake approaches 0.75-1 g/lb. bodyweight/day (0.45g/kg/day)
    0.75-1g/lb bodyweight/day would be ~2g/kg/day.

what many like to call “functional” strength. We just call it strength.
    Haha, exactly.

(Dammit, have I been eating excessive amounts of protein this whole time? What will become of me???)

Well, I'm glad that from now on, when it happens to me, I can rightly say "Happens to the best of us."

Great piece from Dr. Sullivan (as usual).

Apologies for the (perhaps) stupid question, but can I print this out and use it? Seriously.

Any chance we/I can bribe Sully into a version in regards to teenage boys & girls? I am so tired of trying to explain to parents/coaches/family doctors that lifting heavy will not stunt their growth, or cause growth plates to prematurely fuse, or "blow out' your joints & lower back, or make female teenage athletes bulky & muscle-bound, etc.

My youngest son has been drumming up inquires from many of his friends (largely to the positive results of his own training), but now I have to convince the parents to let them train heavy. Many won't sign my waiver and show up to watch me coach them--requirements I adhere to when coaching minors.
