Thanks for your order. We're moving as quickly as we can. Production run of 45s and 25s starts Tuesday. Samples for the rest the following week which I will be there to see for. Hopefully can get some good photos/footage for you.

Update -- we adjusted the tooling for the 45s and 25s, making the lip thinner thus the plate easier to carry. Patterns will be back Thursday and production run of 45s and 25s on Friday. Will post pictures.

Pattern Adjustments are complete on the 45s and will be cast tomorrow. Didn't like the thickness of the face of the lip on the original samples. Here is the pattern for what will be run. Will be much better to handle, and better aesthetically.New Patterns 45.jpgNew Patterns 45 - 2.jpg

For those interested these are called patterns. The patterns are put on the end of rams and then pushed together to compact sand -- making the the mold. Iron is then poured in and then the sand removed making the casting. The casting is then sent to machining where the OD and ID are machined to ensure proper dimensions as well as weight accuracy. These plates will have a tighter ID than anything currently on the market. At the suggestion of Rip the ID will be 1.99 (+/- 0.2). Most plates on the market have an ID of 2.02 - 2.10, avg bar sleeve is 1.95. These plates will have far less "slop" and a much tighter fit then what you're used to. The machining of the plates drives the price up but makes for a much better product.

45s have been casted. Now off to machining and then most likely clear coat -- for durability and rust prevention. Will look at samples with clear coat when at the foundry next week. IMG_9873.jpg

Are you open to loading directly into a customer’s pickup truck? I live in the area and would like to avoid shipping costs.

Not sure if you live in the CA or the WI area. But we will do local pickup in CA. In the future there may be WI options but not at the moment unless a very big order that needs to be broken out.

First photo is of the product arriving to machining. After they are broken out of the mold they are rough grinded at the foundry. Then shipped for machining. Machine shop machines OD, ID, and bevels the lip on each side so its not a sharp edge. They are then checked for accuracy, these plates are 17.75" in diameter, 1.99" for inner diameter and prior to clear coat weighed 44.97lbs. Clear coat tomorrow will be the final test to see what the weight came out to (expecting 45lbs on the nose), and also check that the ID is large enough after coating. More to come. 5lbs plates ran today, photos tomorrow.
