I love Ardbeg 10, huge Islay fan here. I recently purchased the Wee Beastie, saving that to try w/ my brother.

Save yourself the hassle and just drink Eagle Rare 10 year.

I am not a fan of your US whisky but I do recognise its necessity for our scotch casks.

Booker's Center Cut was the best batch I've had. I like Kitchen Table too. It's generally a good bourbon but batch specific. I try not to buy it too often since they do continue to put out that White Label abomination. Rip put this in my head years ago and I can't shake it.

Eagle Rare is way overhyped IMO. Tried it in a blind and chose regular Buffalo Trace over ER. ER had an unpleasant bitter aftertaste. Plus, ER is super hard to find around me, not worth the money or the hassle to me.

I really enjoyed the last batch (Boston) and the next one is called Pigskin Batch, I'll get it too but, admittedly, I'm a Bookers mark (I even keep the batch cards).

Having drank eagle rare and buffalo trace side by side many times-did you drink it neat?
Eagle rare really shines through neat imo.

    But to each their own!

I believe the best whisky for all tastes neat is Oban. But I am somewhat biased.

I just finished listening to the alcohol show - I’m curious if there are exceptions to the Rip’s judgement on blended whiskeys? I’m thinking specifically of Johnnie Walker black or blue. I haven’t had a real drink in quite a while but I have fond memories of Johnnie Walker.

In matters of taste, there are always exceptions.

Rip, I recall you 'revisiting' your scotch collection of late (flashback to the Strength and Scotch podcast). Are you back onto the American whiskeys now? Which American whiskey do you find yourself consuming most regularly?
