I’ve heard great things about most of the stuff from Redemption. If I’m not mistaken, it’s Canadian. Could this be the rare exception to the rule that Canadian whiskeys suck?
I'm a fan of Heaven Hill (the cheap stuff), but have been really enjoying High West's American Prairie Bourbon and Redemption High Rye Bourbon.
I also don't pass up Buffalo Trace or Eagle Rare when I can find it or it's on sale.
I've got a bottle of Blanton's I get into occasionally, as well as some Weller Special Reserve (it's hard to find here - not my favorite but I prefer high rye to wheated bourbon). For scotch I prefer Talisker or Ardbeg.

It's MGP from Lawrenceburg IN.
Haha. Figures. I’ll let my buddy at the liquor store know he misinformed me.
Can he not read the label?
Tried anything from my hometown distillery, Three Rivers Distilling?

I recently enjoyed a bottle of their rye bourbon.
Nah. We were having a pretty lengthy discussion about different whiskeys just the other day and he pointed to what I thought was Redemption and said, “I think that one is from Canada and is excellent,” and then we moved on. I logged the Canada part in my head because I had just listened to the podcast. It’s possible he was just mistaken or possibly even pointing to something different and I got confused.
I've been pleased with the product coming from New Riff in Newport, KY, just across the river from Cincinnati. For a while it seemed like there was a flood of new ryes that all tasted like they were coming almost direct from the still -- in the barrel long enough to get some color then bottled and sent to the shelf. New Riff's has flavor and its good.
Which reminds me that I need to get more whiskey.
