    Rip, could you clarify this from the article:
    "The correct grip for the squat positions the hand as close to the shoulder as possible, thumb over the bar, wrist in slight extension – a neutral wrist position – all four fingers in contact with the bar, and the bar jammed into the base of the palm. This grip allows the forearm to carry a portion of the load and control the bar."

    It's the last part that has me confused, as it seems at odds with the blue book where it emphasizes trapping the bar onto the back with the hands.

    And from a practical standpoint, if I take a grip with the bar jammed into the base of the palm, it feels very secure, but it pisses of my elbows. If I take a grip closer to the fingers (similar to a correct deadlift grip) it forces me to maintain thoracic extension to keep the bar stable, but doesn't bother my elbows at all. And it feels like all the weight is on my back, not in my hands.
