    It is not uncommon or pretentious where I am from.

    In the US they tidied up English by getting rid of a bunch of silent letters and silly words. In England we still have them.

    I did read a probably apocryphal story once about a guy that thought "hirsute" meant "therefore" and dictated notes to his secretary with "Hirsute, Miss Jones...."

    I much prefer a strong, solid thick bodied muscley woman. Any man that doesn't, I suspect, enjoys being pegged "in the privacy of their own bedroom."

    Don't get me wrong - skinny little things can be fun, too. But they don't hold my interest.
