it's always fun when you see a non brit respond to 'lets get pissed' to an american that might mean get angry, to a brit that's to get drunk.... many others just think you mean urine and wonder what you are suggesting

Don't get me wrong - skinny little things can be fun, too. But they don't hold my interest.

In the US they tidied up English by getting rid of a bunch of silent letters and silly words. In England we still have them.
for instance in England it's a programme not a program

This one time, whilst in university, I took too much sport and had to go in hospital.

A few years ago I was advising a US investment fund which was looking to buy a UK business. All very clear in the initial meeting until the cricketing analogies began to flow and the UK team described 'being on the receiving end of a bit of a Googly' in the last year but were now looking to 'get back on the front foot' and 'clear covers' in the next year.

Perhaps they needed a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Just to get back to you, I did complete Theory of Moral Sentiments this weekend, you stated 'report back' when completed. I liked it. I took notes; I won't go into specifics here, but I'd say read it if you want to put forth the effort. I think it's worth it.
