I listened to the podcast this Friday and perked up when Rip started talking about the Steinborn Squat. Martins Licis still performs this lift as well as others like the Zercher squat, bent press, etc. Licis having won World's Strongest Man last year, it's fun to watch guys like this perform these feats of strength. It's certainly more of a circus act than anything, but fun to watch.

Here he is performing the 560 pound Steinborn Squat, breaking the 98 year old world record.

Our friend Phil Anderson did 500 at a bodyweight of 200 back in the early 90s.

That’s truly incredible! Hard to fathom, actually. For what it’s worth, I’d love to hear some of those stories on the podcast.

And a 500-pound Zercher the same day.

Mark, thank you for inspiring me to a new goal. To whit ( as someone, somewhere in the UK might say): I want to get stronger before the sun turns into a red giant.

Whilst we have many silly words in the UK I've never heard someone say 'to whit'.

I hate to burst some bubbles here, but the correct spelling is "to wit".

No bubbles burst. I rather enjoy learning the proper use (and spelling) of arcane phrases no one ever uses and that apparently aren't even seen in the UK.
