Good whisky always needs a good story. What better story than buying it from the guy who makes you strong. Unfortunately that means waiting ten years.

Rip, take a look at McCarthy's in OR. I don't know if they take a specific stand as an organization but when I was in there the staff was telling me they had moved out of Portland because of all the neo-liberal/anarchy horse shit going on there. This was almost a decade ago now. The team seemed to fall in a classical liberal mold. They have a delicious peated islay scotch style american whiskey on offer that is getting some decent distribution these days.

P.S. I tried Leadslinger like someone suggested before. Not drinkable. A branding/marketing play in my eyes or maybe I just got a bad batch early days before they lined things out.

All reports indicate that Leadslinger is not beverage alcohol. I'll look for the McCarthy's.
