Default TRT and recovery of strength losses due to aging

Even though my form is much better than 40 years ago, my compound lifts are at best 2/3 of what they were when I was in my 20's. Assuming that T levels declined solely due to getting old, roughly how much could an very experienced lifter reasonably expect to recover age-related strength loss if T levels were increased to what they were in his 20's?

Most of the stronger old people I know are competing in tested federations where TRT isn't allowed, so either they are like me and not breaking the rules or using and unlikely to admit it. In either case, other tested competitors probably aren't going to answer how TRT affected their lifting from personal experience. Since there are several people in this forum that started TRT after lifting for many years, I was curious about the changes to their strength and recovery once starting TRT. I know they results will vary a lot, but I doubt I could find a better source for information than here.

You might get half of the loss back. It's more than just hormones.

Actually, that was at the high end of what I was thinking. As always, I appreciate that you took the time to share your knowledge.

    It's just a guess.

I would say it was an informed guess.
