Acute intense pressure in the forehead when lifting heavy
Hello, master Rip.
My little sister is 16 y.o. and has recently taken up lifting. She is sometimes experiencing acute intense headaches and pressure in the forehead when she lifts heavily. It leaves her momentarily incapacitated, but it passes quickly (5-10s). Sometimes it is also followed by dizziness. She's found that lifting her head up helps her recover quicker.
Doing chin ups, flips on the trampoline and other gymnastics stuff can also trigger it.
About ten tears ago she suffered a quite serious concussion, when she rammed the top of her forehead into the curb stone in a bicycling accident. She misses a couple hours, she vomited, and was hospitalized overnight. We can't think of any other incident that might be related to her problems.
I have taught her to do the Valsalva with her mouth open, not holding her breath in her mouth, but it can happen anyway.
Have you encountered anything similar before, or do you have any idea about what might help?
Regards,
Stigsrud

No ideas, outside the scope of this board. She needs a neurology consult.
