Watch it a few more times, and then form an opinion. Neither Kubrick nor I will spoon-feed you.
It was a decent low-budget film, just a 1x-watcher.Quote:
Have you seen Moon? That is a great sci-fi film.

Mark, didn't the turn for bladerunner from poorly received to cult classic happen well before the directors cut, etc? By the time those came out, the movie was widely known as a Sci Fi classic. I don't remember, it's just what I have read. That's why I made that comment. I don't recall you two discussing this in the podcast.
Blade Runner was a classic film the day it was released. The Final Cut was just icing on the cake.
Watched the The Final Cut the other night, truly stunning piece of work, particularly the smoked haze effect that runs throughout that you guys pointed out.
I was surprised that the Terminator movies didn't get a mention.
Not true Science Fiction? or just not good enough movies?
No love for Ex Machina?
The Terminator series was good. It didn't change the industry. Ex Machina was also very good, but not in the same class as our picks.
The only film I'd put up there with your picks is Minority Report. The first two thirds of Sunshine might be in with a look too.
Can anyone recommend an order to watch the alien franchise? Release order or movie timeline order?
Definitely in order of release. They are all worth watching but Alien and Aliens are the best films in the series by quite a distance, both stone cold classics.
