Not sure if you caught the Joe Rogan Podcast with NASA astronaut Garret Raisman (worth the full listen), but NASA figured out how to negate bone loss in space. Not sure how their resistance exercise gadget works, but after playing with it the awesome thing is that they decided the best stress was sets of 5 maximum effort reps. They allegedly totally negated the zero gravity bone loss with this method. Just imagine how well this model works in the presence of gravity.
I mentioned this in another thread recently. I don't know how the ARED works mechanically but I do know that they use it to squat, press, deadlift for sets of five to keep the astronauts' bones healthy. It's a machine that costs millions of dollars because there is no gravity in space. Fortunately you can get a barbell for a fraction of that price.
