Is there any evidence that you know of that shows that a bad press to bench ratio can cause injuries. My best bench is 365 but my best press is 225. Would you say this is a bad ratio. I feel i need to press 3x a week 2 heavy 1 mild to get better, but I'm such a bench junkie.

I'm not aware of any ratio, other than the fact that not pressing at all is not good for anterior/posterior strength balance.

Rip, you've never noticed a trend? When in college, we found the Press:Bench ratio to be consistently ~65% give or take a few % points (in men). Hundreds if not thousands of data points. Should probably go through the gyms data in see if its consistent with what we saw then.

That's the usual ratio for Bench to Press, but the OP's question was about injuries.

I always have pressed 60 to 68 percent of my bench. Probably because bench has been my focus and not the press. Maybe now is time since I have had the shoulder surgerys in pasts year to make the press more of a focus.
