I could get a private blood test, but my private medical insurance won't cover TRT as it's "part of aging". So even if I did get a private test done, I doubt if the my GP would accept it and I'd have to pay for my meds at massively marked up clinic rates.

For the £80 cost of a private test, you could probably buy a couple of months of supply from a reputable underground lab and just have a go (this isn't illegal to do in the UK - only dealing is criminalised).

It's the same situation in the US, too. You can't get TRT paid for by insurance unless you are below the reference range. The only ways are illegally or by paying a clinic out of pocket.

Similarly, the US FDA doesn't recommend TRT for hypogonadism due to aging.

Medicating osteoporosis due to aging, diabetes due to aging, dementia due to aging, and any number of other maladies of aging? Oh, sure...but not that.

Some maladies are more equal than others.

Yes you are not going to get it for free, but the nhs isn’t the reason. You won’t get it for free anywhere.

It’s £55 I think this is cheaper than what I’ve seen people say they pay in the US

Wasn't that supposed to be the point of the NHS?
People who work pay 3X their expected medical costs upfront so everyone can get basic care for free through replacement doctors shipped in from India?

Yes the nhs is fucked up.

My point was there are plenty of alternative options available here. And the pricing isn’t usually as bad as people might think.
