Picked up some fresh local ground chuck & ribeye this morning. Getting ready to fire up some oak and hickory and get those burgers grilling and smoking for a nice sunny Sunday afternoon dinner up north!

$9/pound is the going price here. Double what it was two years ago.

Here's a fun video about burgers:

Umami makes a “truffle burger” with an egg, sunny side up on it and a hint of truffle. Cooked rare, it’s a piece of artistry and genius comparable to Newton’s elucidation of gravity and the crafting of the U.S. Constitution. Of course there will be detractors who will dismiss this invention as effete but so be it.

Most Umami’s open at 11 AM, certainly within the parameters of breakfast.

The world is a better, happier place with the truffle burger than without it.

Yes, why not?! And, the "I'm a cow" clip was great, but way too short!

The right hot sauce on eggs can put them over the moon. I haven't tried it on a burger, but I see no reason why you couldn't. Maybe pan fried potato slices on top.

    For breakfast, obviously.

Welp, guess I'm going to get some "buns" to go with my burgers and milk for dinner tonight! Maybe I'll fire up some ribeyes too, decisions decisions!

In addition to salt and pepper, I sprinkle some chili powder on burgers and steaks before they hit the hickory and oak coals. It doesn't really make the food spicy, it just seems to add to the chargrilled and smoke flavor. Grilled up a couple of nice ribeyes tonight this way, so damn good!!
