Check out the original "The Evil Dead" film made in 1981 by a bunch of college students in an old cabin in the woods. It's pretty entertaining.

After we spent all that time carefully explaining what a "monster movie" is, you suggest a horror movie.

Can you link the podcast? I only saw about a 30 second preview clip.

Thank you for the link coach!

Also, I may be a frugal bastard, but definitely not a cheap bastard!

I'll trade you one silver Texas Centennial half dollar for a subscription, or some local whiskey or grass fed bison?

Best I can do, no credit cards or banks for this frugal bastard!

This was a great episode. Kong as protector; Cloverfield as total crap; Young Frankstein as peak Frankenstein.

These are the things we all know to be true but some fear to say.

I've never had any opinion on monster movies, but I appreciate the thoughtful definitions you guys used. Given a way to conceptualize them makes the genre as a whole far more interesting, and I'll definitely be watching Trollhunter and Reign of Fire at the very least.

I thought Pacific Rim might make the cut. A little more drama than monsters for the list but I enjoy the movie and premise.

Watched Reign of Fire last night and it's a very entertaining movie. Thanks.

I've gotten a copy of Reign of Fire to watch after this podcast, Ditto for the Thing, although I'm not sure it qualifies since the Thing clearly cared about people.

30 Days of Night also has a great accompanying book that takes place in the same universe and overlaps, it's an expansion of the 30 days of night universe that isn't fucking stupid.
