This is an excellent and VERY actionable article (at least for me). I myself didn’t make the transition to alternative grips (for me, straps) until the bar actually slipped out of my hands. Before that, I no doubt unnecessarily missed (or almost missed) 4th or 5th reps during multiple work-outs.

Transitioning to alternate grips definitely helps even when you struggle with a rep where the bar remains in your hands! I now use double overhand grips for all my warm-ups except for the heaviest single warm-up rep (reverse grip) and my work set (straps). That helps me get at least get some improvement in my grip.

Thank you for that very insightful observation Andrew. Reading this previously would have saved me from some disappointing work-outs!
