Yes, the pseudoscience is deeply embedded, especially in DC.

Cattle stations are now being marketed for their carbon credit potential.

Two Northern Territory cattle stations have been put up for sale, with a specific buyer in mind: companies with a large carbon footprint. If it goes ahead as planned, the estimated $100 million-plus deal is believed to be the first of its kind.

In 2022, Maryfield and Limbunya stations were bought by Sydney-based investor Sam Mitchell from WealthCheck, with AAM Investment buying the 50,000 head of cattle and entering a long-term lease to run the pastoral operations. The pastoral lease for Maryfield, 530 kilometres south-east of Darwin, sold for $38.2 million and Limbunya, 900km south-west of Darwin, sold for $65.2 million.

After registering carbon projects on the properties, Mr Mitchell is now offering for sale both the land and its potential to generate about 10.4 million Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) over 25 years.

Messenger aside, if climate change is by definition a global problem, how again does it disproportionately affect black communities again?

    This is utter garbage.

To be fair, all kinds of wide scale issues can absolutely affect different populations disparately, for a variety of reasons: socioeconomic, behavioral, genetic, physical, et al.

That said, the not-remotely-naval officer in question did not exactly connect those dots, other than a couple of vague assertions, one of which is inherently subjective, so your concluding assessment is still accurate.

I've built more than a few of these beasts over the years; I guess it's my contribution to "Global Warming!"

Switching back to diesel. Why EV's are an economic failure.

I'm back in a diesel after 4yrs running both EV & PHEV. What needs to change to get me to go back? - YouTube

Default The less you know, the hotter it gets.

    New guy here.

Weather is what happens. It's the real stuff.

Climate is an abstraction. It is an arbitrarily-defined central tendency. You -- yes you! -- can arbitrarily change the climate by arbitrarily changing the time scale viewed.

Be that as it may, if you want to sound smart you could say climate is the ever-changing strange attractor of the weather over the arbitrary time scale you choose.

Earth's many apparent major climate regions (note that there is no single "climate") are passing faces of a coupled non-linear chaotic system - that of the atmosphere and oceans.

But I must be really stupid, because I'm stuck all the way back on square one. My kingdom for a coherent explanation of what "average global temperature" even means, in physical terms.

I'm pretty confident I'll be keeping my kingdom.

A positively fascinating collection of statistics in the local news: Wisconsin Likely Recorded Hottest Winter on Record | News | wkow.com

Not the mildest winter. Not even the warmest weather. The HOTTEST one!!!

Well, likely the hottest, he says...

Default This is the hottest coldest time on record (ignoring 99.99999999% of the record)

We are in the Holocene, the approximately 30th interglacial (read: slightly warmer) period of multi-million year long Quaternary Ice Age, an ice age which likely still has many millions of years to go.

That's right, we are in an ice age. (How many people know that?) This is, thankfully, a smidge above the coldest the Earth has ever been over it's entire history.

But even during the roughly 12,000 years of the Holocene, there have been many many many periods warmer than now. And not because of redneck pickups spewing donaldtrumpdioxide into the atmosphere.

I will never understand why so many people prattle on about statistics when they know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about that branch of mathematics ... or about Earth's geologic history ... or physics ... or chemistry ... or fluid dynamics ... or the profound limitations of computer modeling nonlinear dynamical systems ... or even basic logic.

Midwits are now in charge of the asylum.

    Bumping this:

Really, think about this: A 4.6 billion-year-old planet with an 8000-mile diameter, with a molten core (heat, etc.), with an atmosphere that is only 50 miles/240,000ft thick (being rather generous), that orbits a star only 93 million miles away with 330,000 times the earth's mass and that emits enough radiation to burn your naked ass in 30 minutes, is having its weather unalterably changed over the course of the next 5/10/15 years (whatever it is now) by the presence of a weak greenhouse gas, CO2, that happens to now be at its lowest level in damn near the entire history of the planet -- a history punctuated by global glaciations while that weak greenhouse gas was far higher than it is now -- and that also happens to be the basis of plant life (and therefore atmospheric oxygen), a gas whose greenhouse effect is dwarfed by that of water vapor (on a planet with a surface area that consists of 70% water), and that geologically is currently in an interglacial period. The models that generated this political bullshit have predicted nothing correctly -- not sea level change, polar ice cover, or weather.

And everybody believes it anyway, to the extent that they are handing the management of the world's economy to elderly megalomaniacs with an agenda based on their own personal power. You're not even allowed to question it -- otherwise sensible people have agreed with the ridiculous premise that CO2 is a deadly poison that must be eliminated from the surface of the earth. Every August, everybody runs around like it's not supposed to be hot. Every time there's a drought, everybody acts like it's the very first time it's been dry too long. "Hurricane season" started in June, and how many hurricanes have devastated the coastlines already inundated by the molten ice caps? How many times over the past 20 years of this shit have the hurricane predictions been correct? This is a classic example of a pseudoscience, exactly like astrology. It's not falsifiable, and it has predicted nothing correctly. And in classic leftist fashion, anyone who disagrees is guilty of "The Pseudoscience of Climate Denialism."

Really, the children are in charge now, seeking validation for "caring about the planet," running around yelling about "carbon" -- the 4th most abundant element in the physical universe --being a deadly poison. Their managers are common criminals whose entire agenda is money and control, and we are letting it happen. It is the result of the shitty science education we received in the government schools, and it probably cannot be stopped.

And in addition, the Government that brought you the flu from China, lockdowns, and vaccines that killed far more people than the flu, the Government in charge of "public education", the war(s) in Asia, the economy, and pronouns wants to also be in charge of the weather.
