A couple of my clients are interested in competitive powerlifting. I remember in one of the podcasts you recommended a book to read if a person was going to begin coaching/training in powerlifting? What book was that? Thanks.

I don't remember having said that, and I don't know of a book I'd recommend.

I suggest getting the rule book of the federation you will be competing under for squat/bench/deadlift technical rules, e.g IPF has a new rule for 2023 regarding the benchpres and elbow depth, training should be guided by the blue book, just get specific to the 3 lifts about 6 weeks out from the meet, rank novices just continue the NLP till after their 3rd event or so, again my opinion/suggestion... cheers

After browsing through old articles I believe you were referencing "Defying Gravity" by Bill Starr. I haven't been able to locate the podcast episode again, yet. I believe you were responding to a question about your relationship with Bill over the years. Does this ring any bells?

Defying Gravity is out of print, and will not be available except through a used dealer. Check the web.

As someone who has read almost every powerlifting book and tried every program, I can confidently say that for the majority of current powerlifters, Practical Programming is far and away the best "powerlifting" book they could read.

It's not marketed as a powerlifting book, but it covers everything your typical powerlifter needs, and in better detail than any other resource.

I actually think the book you’re referencing is about tennis. I can’t remember the name of it but I’ve heard Rip mention a specific chapter or two from it a couple of times on some older podcasts.

If that's it, the title is The Inner Game of Tennis by Tim Galway. Best book on sports psychology I've ever read.

I have and old book Powerlifting a Scientific Approach by Fred Hatfield, seems to be a good resource.
