gday rip, this o.h. squat exercise is really starting to grow on me. the dynamics of this exercise challenge me in so many ways, but the main reason i like this exercise is that when performing it you can feel everything (proprioceptive), and for me if something isnt switched on, it doesnt happen.
    my question is this:
i am considering using the o.h.s. on a light day in texas method. do the glutes and hammys contribute to the exercise in a way that serve the back squat heavy days?
i ask because i am under the impression that the front squat does not and wondered if it was also the case for the o.h.s.
my main goal is to continue linear progression on my back squat for as long as possible.

The OHS can be done in two ways, depending on your flexibility. Many people do it with an upright torso, so that it essentially uses front squat mechanics, but the same back angle used in the back squat can also be employed, so that the posterior chain gets pulled in more. But either way, the OHS will never constitute enough of a percentage of your back squat to serve as a strength exercise for the lower body because the limiting factor is your ability to keep the bar overhead, not your ability to squat it. You could do it on light day after front squats, but not instead of.
