Default Rep ranges for the lifts I don't do anyway

Why are the lifts such as LTE and curls programed with higher reps? (8-12 reps) I understand their so called purpose, but why not heavy 5s? Of course these are done at the end of the workout since they are the most ineffective stresses.

If you're going to do these exercises, using 5RM loads on exercises that more or less isolate a joint is an excellent way to develop a tendon inflammation, because of the heavier weight.

Talk to Santana; he’s got a good working theory on how to assign rep ranges based on number of joints involved in the movement.
