Though I do most of my lifting in my basement gym, I also belong to Lifetime Fitness (free membership due to Medicare status). I go to Lifetime primarily to do presses, because my basement gym lacks the necessary overhead clearance do the press properly (standing). I find my Lifetime to be a suitable venue for getting a proper workout in. They have 13 or 14 power racks, each with a decent deadlifting platform, and they have quality barbells of multiple weights. On the other hand, they don't allow chalk, and they lack micro-plates.
To the point of this forum, however, most Lifetime members are not lifters. I'd say at least 95% of them are "exercisers". Of those who use the power racks/deadlift platform, maybe 15% are "lifters", which to me means that they mostly know what they are doing, they are using relatively decent form, they "have a plan" and they are exerting themselves.
