I turned 50 in December of 2016. While I have been working out steadily for about three years now (and many other on again off again years prior to that) and my lower back injuries are no longer an issue, I felt like I was letting myself down. When you hit 50 you realize that all those "one days" have piled up and may very well never happen. I'm healthy, in decent shape, but have never felt physically strong. I've always wanted to be that guy, the one who can move mountains, never suffers from old-man pain, and still gets long lingering looks from his beautiful wife. So I decided to stop "exercising" and start training. I've written novels in my spare time, gone flyfishinig for salmon in Alaska, and earned an engineering degree. I can do this, too.
