I'm 54 years old (as of 11/17) and I've been a squishy couch lard ass for far too long. In February 2017 I decided I needed to lose weight. I was a 240 pound tub of goo with no endurance, no strength. As a diet noob, I reduced calories, learned what TDEE was and set about losing weight. I added exercise - mostly cardio with Beachbody's P90 (no X) program. While doing that, I dropped weight at a good pace until that program was done, all the while learning about the benefits of strength training. So, I started SrongLifts 5x5 in May. After learning more and trusting Rippetoe et. al. I switched to SS in October 2017. I current weigh a touch under 200 after getting pretty close to 190 and looks like I may be nearing the end of the novice LP phase. I am also learning, that at age 54, I may need to change my programming some. But, I kinda like being the old guy in the corporate gym with a program.
