Ten pounds is a huge gap with pussy weights, mofo. And I did an absolute max set of 5 with 135 at the seminar. 'Sides, everybody knows that pressing about what I press is like being more endowed than the men in Japanese porn. Sure it may give you some satisfaction, but it's not something you bring up with any sort of pride.

Joel, this probably is injury. My quads just above my knee hurt like hell when I try to jump. It's starting to get better and when it feels much better I'll start doing light squats again.

Hey, its only 9lbs, and I think I could fail equally bad at that weight (554). We'll find out in 2 sessions when I beat ya down by 1lb . BTW, no pride whatsoever implied by my comments.

Note to self: video self pressing 135 x5 x3 next month. PM video to Matt. Listen for the sound of Matt weeping.

On my off days I've been doing lunges and light hops both as rehabilitation and to gauge the progress of my healing. A couple sets of walking lunges went well. Later on I decided to see how far I could squat while standing on one leg. The pain from just beneath my vastu lateralis in my left leg was blinding.

Here's the thing. An effusion means there was some level of inhibition. Draining the effusion means something is getting worked that couldn't be worked before. So I think that the high volume/intensity/frequency beat something the fuck up in my quads as I kept draining the effusion. Same sort of thing happened when I started draining the effusion in the right knee last year.

Anyway, I was surprised to find that after some initial discomfort and fear I was able to get a full pistol with my right leg. When I put on my squat shoes, I was able to knock off two or three at a time. Amazing how much the proper pair of shoes stabilizes things. It's also amazing how much more the pistols reveal than the lunges. I was so happy a couple days ago just to be able to lunge off my left leg at all. Tonight the pistol attempt showed me that there is a lot of healing left to do.
