    Jordan,

I've had 3 tests for my Thyroid in the last 6 months (1 today still waiting on results) and they've shown increased levels of thyroid level although the 2nd test I was told was shown as trending down.

Can any of this contribute to muscle weakness or a major stumbling block to strength gains?

    For the record:

I will be 50 this month
    5' 9" 173 lbs (approx 24% bf)

    Most Recent Lifts:
    Squat 225 3x5
    DL 275 1x5
    Bench 151 3x5
    Press 97 3x5

If you're very hyperthyroid then yes, but if it's only mildly elevated then less likely the reason for your impaired gainzZz.

My self-diagnosis of my lab results was wrong and I have Hypothyroidism. Not sure how or if that has effected my training at all but sounds like I'm going to be on Thyroid meds after I get an Ultrasound and my 1st appointment with an Endocrinologist in a few weeks.

Hypothyroid could do it too, but I don't know your medical history and it's difficult to comment on it without knowing.

If you don't use iodized salt on a daily basis (which most people don't) your hypothyroidism has a good likelihood of being caused by an iodine deficiency. Try taking your temperature first thing when you wake up in the morning. If your temperature is at or below about 97.7 it may be a sign that you're iodine deficient and not really hypothyroid (thyroid requires iodine to create T3 and T4, and if you don't have enough iodine, you won't have enough T3 and T4). Iodine supplementation will fix a good percentage of hypothyroid issues without the need for medication. Dr's are notorious for not even attempting this simple fix before throwing meds at people though.

Not in this country and your line about body temperature is not at all sensitive or specific enough to even bother posting about. People on the Internet should probably avoid giving medical advice without any training, ya know?
