    Hi,

I'd like to ask for advice relating to insomnia and irritability induced by training.

I first started lifting 8 months ago. Started with SL 5x5, recommended by a friend, then only recently found SS and this forum. Stuck with the linear progression, and was feeling very good, until I started getting irritable and suffering from severe insomnia - this is triggered by training, as I don't have either issue if I don't train, and when I stopped training things go back to normal.

    Some information

    Age: 47

Never lifted before, generally unfit, body type is ectomorph
Weights lifted before taking a break:

    Squat: 50 Kg
    OHP: 22.5 Kg
    Bent over row: 40Kg
    Bench: 40Kg
    Deadlift: 50Kg

(I know it's not much at all, but better than when I started, when even the empty bar required effort)

    I train 2x week:

Monday is: Squat, Bench press, Bent over row

    Thursday is: Squat, OHP, Deadlift

All 3x5, except DL which is 1x5

As far as I can tell, everything was ok until I got to about 40Kg-50KG deadlift, including also a 5x 30 Kg warmup. After a session that includes DL, I get very irritable, and forget about sleeping that night.

Does anyone have suggestions about why this may be, and if my hunch that this may be associated with DLs is correct. Thanks!

    1)How much do you weigh?

2)How soon after training do you attempt to sleep?

3)What do you eat after training?

Fiish training around 6-7pm, go to sleep 4-5 hours later

When I get home I drink a glass of milk, then I cook for me and the family, and within 1-1.5 hours I have dinner. What I have varies a lot. Meat, fish, vegetables, pasta. I mostly eat Italian/Mediterranean.
