    Default Training vs recovery and human nature

    What about human nature makes so many people focus just on training / exercising to meet their goals vs the other parts of the equation (diet and recovery)?

    It struck me lately that most people come here asking about how they can accomplish their goals with training as the primary focus (If not only focus).

    Can't people accomplish more with less effort and longer term success if they use a minimum effective dose of training and a more intensive focus on diet, sleep, recovery?

    You do know that this is a website developed from a book completely dedicated to increasing muscular strength through barbell training, right?

    haha, yes of course. It's just an observation that the training info here draws people in like flies, but recovery failures appear to be the basis of most of the issues with folks NDTP or progressing slowly.

    The relatively minor (page-wise) content on nutrition/recovery is equally important to long term success though right?

    Starting Strength pp208-211(nutrition) and Practical Programming pp20-29 (Factors affecting recovery), and Chapters 15/16 of The Barbell Prescription....relatively minor content percentages but critical IMO.

    Diet only strategies are more popular, as are diet plus a bit of activity, not training.

    Most people on this site want to either correct their technique or get programming advice. The diet stuff comes up too but it will never come up as much as the rest because lifting properly and programming the lifts properly are higher on the priorities. This is because the Book that this site is based on is a book primarily about about proper lifting mechanics and the programming of those lifts. Keep in mind that those two things are hard enough for many people on here. Whether those things should be that hard is another topic entirely. Recovery is important but not as important as not injuring yourself up performing the lifts wrong or improperly programming them.
