    Hey everyone,
When gyms reopened last year after the first lockdown (I’m in the UK) I ran SS from September to December (when gyms closed again) and made pretty good progress on the exercises.
As a result, I’ve not done any heavy lifting since then, but gyms are reopening next week.
I plan on spending a few weeks building my strength back up, then moving onto another routine designed for getting lean (still includes the compound lifts).
During the time I was building strength, I was consuming 3000-3500 calories and 180-200g protein a day.

My question is, do I need to worry about consuming this much whilst regaining strength, considering muscle memory and the like?

I’ve already gained quite a bit of weight recently which I’m hoping to shed once I’m back on progress, hence my concern about being in a surplus at this point.

You can probably start with a more modest consumption and then scale up as you approach your old PRs. That seems to work well for most.
