Have you tried making a protein smoothie?
Happy Thanksgiving SS forums.
I’m looking for a high calorie high protein “meal replacement” shake recipe that can replace my first breakfast. Ideally, something that can sit in the fridge overnight and be drank the next morning. Any suggestions you’ve had success with would be appreciated.
Have you tried making a protein smoothie?
That’s what I typically do. The issue I run into is that in order to really bump up the calories and protein, it turns into this massive 500ml+ ultra thick concoction that’s difficult to throw down in the early AM.
Two recipes I typically use are whole milk,
Whey, PB, blue berries, banana; or whey, milk and olive oil.
How much protein and how much total calories are you aiming for?
Here’s my current recipe, quantities are rough estimates.
Milk - 12 oz
Whey - 1 scoop
Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
Egg whites, pasteurized - 1.5 oz.
Peanut butter - 1 tablespoon
Banana - 1/2 (I usually eat the other half)
Oreo cookie - 1
Hershey dark syrup - 1 tablespoon
Estimated calories 675
Estimated protein 40g
12 oz milk isn't enough for all that ingredients. You probably don't need an Oreo cookie and olive oil. What is the perceived value add there other than palatability?
Invest in a 24oz-32oz blender/mixer bottle.
If the problem is that it's too thick, you need more liquid.
I am also lazy about making breakfast in the morning, and I don't really like solid foods that early anyway. I mix a mass gainer powder into a 32oz blender bottle and top off with milk. Comes out to about 1500 calories and ~75 grams of protein, but I'm actively trying to gain weight. You could just adjust as necessary.
