    Default Optimal Diet for NLP

Hi everyone. I am a 37 year old male who is just getting into the linear progression. I have a history of 3 bad herniated discs in my twenties and have been very cautious about the big lifts till now, but that has left me weak and my back no better. I’ve started the NLP and have worked up in 2 weeks to Squat 165, Deadlift 175 and Bench 140. No back issues. I am 6’6” and 202 lbs but with a significant amount of fluff and weight around the waist. And obviously weak as above. I know that Rip would say I’m very underweight but I’m quite a bit older now and concerned about whether I should go full throttle on the calories particularly at my body fat percentage. I do feel my recovery is better with higher calories.

The fluff will even itself out as you get stronger. You are underweight and skinny fat and hardly old. Get some coaching if you can, gain some bodyweight, and ramp that deadlift up faster it should be nowhere near the squat right now.
