Hi Jordan, quick question re basic blood work. I'm getting some basic tests done next week and wanted to sense check the tests with you. Searched the forums but couldn't find anything apart from a thread from 2011 that wasn't all that useful.
Haven't had any blood work done since 2010 so wanted to get a general update for my own curiosity particularly as to cardiovascular markers. No particular health issues but there is a family history of cardiovascular disease on my mothers side.
I'm 39, been on the basic novice progression since March this year and added about 12kg of body weight (to 92kg at a height of 5-11) with no extra curricular conditioning. My waist has also increased to close to 40 inches so I'm currently cutting back on calorie intake somewhat and now tracking it (MyFitnessPal) to ensure macros as per your recomp recommendation.
These are the tests I'm planning on:
- Lipid panel (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides)
- CRP
- Glucose
- Testosterone (just curious so have thrown it in there).
(Note there are a bunch of other biological markers as the lipid panel comes as part of a bundle)
Any other tests that you might think relevant or any other thoughts?
Thanks for your time
I know nothing of your medical history outside of this, but I'd get a:
-Lipid panel
-CMP
-GGT
-CBC
-TSH
-A1C
-Total testosterone (if testing first thing in the morning)
