Hi Jordan, I'm an intermediate (I think) lifter who seems to have a genetic predisposition to large amounts of midsection fat storage. I'm 180-185 pounds at 5'11" with a 39 inch waist with a 402 squat, 535 deadlift, 154 press, 192 bench (I'm just not a gifted upper body guy). I remember you saying that increasing waist size beyond 40 inches probably isn't a good idea so increasing body weight at this time probably isn't a good idea either. If 40 inches is an upper bound then what would you suggest is a good waist size range to cut to or try to maintain for someone like me? Eventually I'd like to really increase muscle mass without the exploding waistline.

I think aiming to get to that 34-36" range as a nice maintenance spot is a good idea at a higher weight after multiple years of training. It's going to take some time, however.
