“What made Jack rather special was that he always wanted to expand his knowledge on all facets of strength training. and he wasn’t shy about seeking advice…I would tell him what I thought best to do and he would follow my suggestions. What he didn’t know was that I was just grabbing an idea off the top of my head. I had no idea whether what I had told him would actually work”
He used the same technique on me when he visited my father Jack and to this day I remain a devoted disciple to the simple principles of the Starr Big three, heavy medium light. Glad I remembered that Rip was a student of Bill's and get to continue to read funny, straightforward truth about the benefits of moving heavy iron. These habits got me through 30 years in the Navy and many, many deployments.

I met Jack several years ago at his gym on a trip to NC. Starr has always spoken highly of him, and I know why. Give him my best.
