To Cue or Not to Cue Muscle Groups | Brent Carter

Good little piece. I've long observed that the popular powerlifting deadlift cue, "LATS!" is not wrong, but is inevitably entirely ineffective. Ordinary people, even lifters, don't know what the hell the lats do, and even if they do, they don't know what they do during a deadlift, and even if they do, it's not a cue that can be reacted to as well as cueing the movement we want: "drag the bar up your legs," later shortened to just "drag," or a similar movement cue, rather than a muscle cue. Examples of this abound, as Dr. Carter explains.
