From Good Player to Division 1 Athlete Using Starting Strength | John Guerra
As a fifty-something man somewhat jaded by the behavior of most 20-somethings I encounter, I REALLY enjoyed listening to this accomplished young man speak. He will go places. Even before he mentioned the tryout drill to walk-on to his college basketball team, I was telling myself, "I bet he likes to play on the low post sometimes", where he can best display his hard-earned strength, even if he is "only" point-guard size. Those "bigs" he bettered in that tryout drill should now know the value of barbell training.
Great talk, and I did laugh quite a bit. This guy has his speaking on point.
I enjoyed his story at the end about coaching his friend from Duke. It really goes to show how simple and effective this stuff is. What couldn't be achieved by D1 strength coach for years was reached in 2 months.
