First time doing power cleans in lifting shoes, and first time wearing a weightbelt at all. My cleans have always been such a problem for me for a number of reasons, but perhaps primarily is the inconsistency in hitting thighs into the jump. This is the last (5th) set of 3: video.
Thank you. I really appreciate your guidance!

When you set up make sure your balance is on mid foot (the shoes may push you forward of that). Then fight to stay mid foot as you pull (I would do this a bit slower for now to work on tech). Your knees should be back a touch more as the bar passes (think vertical shins at that point). Then when you get to the jumping position think of getting tall (hit the ceiling) so that you are fully extended with straight arms - explode!

Thanks for the great feedback, Coach Courtland. Do you suggest I also reduce the weight until I can get a stronger jump and better balanced technique?

Yeah a small reduction and then small jumps might be a good idea.

Hi again Coach Courtland,
Here are my 5 sets at 10 pound weight reduction. video The vertical shin and getting tall are great cues, but I'm still struggling with balance. Not to make lame excuses, but the paver path I'm standing on is a bit bowed. I will try moving somewhere more flat next time.

Everything is a lot better today. Nicely done! Your balance isn't actually that bad. You would probably feel more stable if you let your feet move out to the side a bit as you land to catch the barbell (a wider catching stance is more stable).
