Many thanks Rip, I'm pulling 400 lbs and progressing each week still. I have straps but am yet to use them. I wondered what is your advice on when and if to introduce them as I don't want to lose grip strength.

My two cents: Once you need to use straps to get through your working set, use them for that. Just use without on all warm-ups. As your top set goes up, your top warm up goes up. Your grip strength will thus grow stronger, too.

Or just hook and train your grip on the work set too. Doesn't that make more sense?

Proud hooker here. My grip has only become stronger as all of my lifts go up, despite the fact that I hook my pulls from the 3rd warmup set on.

Use self adhesive tape on your thumbs if you’re a little bitch like me.

I'm assuming that is a given. But if your grip still gives out before your hams and back, use straps at top set.
