Squat-Stance Deadlift, an alternative to Back Squat?
Coach Rip,
This question is about the Squat-Stance Deadlift (SSDL). Here two videos showing the lift:
Squat Stance Deadlifts - YouTube
How to do the Squat-Stance Deadlift - YouTube
I envision doing the SSDL like this:
With Starting-Strength Squat Foot-Stance.
With mid-foot under bar.
Bending knees and lowering hips till pants crease is below top of patella
With back at around 45 degree to floor in the bottom position.
With knees to the sides when in bottom position.
Some of us (just me?) do not like carrying the bar on our backs when squatting, so the SSDL seems like an acceptable variation/alternative to the Back Squat that allows bending over like Back Squat (so we could potentially program SSDL instead of Back Squat and in addition to the regular Deadlift).
What flaw/s did you find (and I missed) in the SSDL that caused you to not mention it in SSBBT3-3rd-revision as a valid Squat alternative/variation?
Thank you for your time and thoughts.
