I bench relatively heavy by most people’s standards and I bench by myself each and every time. A rogue rack with spotters arms appropriately placed and a monolift attachment instead of j-hooks makes for a pleasant and fear-free bench press experience.

I saw a good friend who was very strong using the correct grip drop a bar when he had a muscle tear. Broke ribs could of been worse and he wasn’t near his max weight capacity

I would never bench outside a rack with safeties set properly

things can go wrong even when you are doing everything correctly

Even a human spotter can’t react quick enough

If you can’t bench in a rack find a new gym or just do overhead presses

I guess I am possibly being influenced by the fact I HATE benching but I’ve long since realised that the programme doesn’t really care if I hate a particular part of it or not. I am continuing to bench using safeties.... thank you all for your time
