Giving this a shot.
Just started doing something just like this except I kept it to 4 workouts a week. So basically just 5/3/1 with weeks 2 and 4 removed. Hoping it works well for intermediate training. The most common complaint I hear about 5/3/1 is the progress is too slow for non-advanced people. Well, it seemed like common to sense to just shorten the cycles for less experienced people. Intermediates don't really need Week 2 to make adaptations and deloads can be taken as needed rather than programmed.
Giving this a shot.
Anyone doing BBB with this setup?
Good question
And is it amrap?
Karl, I am giving this a shot. I started today. I had been doing only the minimum reps of the last set, and not doing any accessory work for a few weeks now, but I was doing a 3 week version. I am going to try your version to try and catch up with where I should be.
I'm not. But I haven't been doing it for a while. I was feeling really beat down from adding BbB after my sets. I'm feeling better now.
Karl's version of 5/1 is not AMRAP. Get 5 at the end of 5/5/5, move on to the 5/3/1 week. Get 1 on the last set of 5/3/1, add weight and move on to the next 5/5/5.
Never even knew that existed. Cool stuff.
Wow, lots of people are doing this. I should have written an ebook!
Spiderman, I currently use your calculator and just discard weeks 2 and 4. It would be neat to have this version on there.
On AMRAPS, I don't have any theoretical objection. For me, AMRAP is typically the 5 or the 1. Sometimes I do doubles in the second week, if I can.
