Excellent piece. Always impressed with how much you give to us out here. Thank you, this is gold.
Discussion of the idea of annual programming. Specifically how to link some of the programs presented in PPST3 into a sensible annual plan.
This article is part 1 and focuses on January - May. Building a base with a simple HLM program and dovetailing into a simple Texas Method program for April to May

Wow, this is simply excellent!
Hope that we won't wait for part two too long
Thanks Andy for such a great article.
Always loved the stuff you are publishing, but this is the best so far.
Do you think that would also work with sm40+(I do it with 8/5/2) followed by let's say 2 cycles of KSC method for raw PL? Got my first meet in mid Feb.
Be patient Herman....part 2 coming out next week. I'm gonna work those into the discussion. Thanks for the compliment.
Hi Andy, this piece was timely for me. Thanks for giving me permission to take it easy for 3-4 weeks during December. I've been feeling run down and unmotivated so was planning to take a 2 week deload, but I'm just gonna take a break like you suggested in the article instead. Sounds fun!
Thanks for these articles! I've always been curious about how annual periodization would work/look. I'm an early intermediate, successfully running your strength and mass over 40 program and still making 5 pound jumps each cycle (in each rep range) in every lift but the press (I've had to go to 1 pound increases there). Is this type of programming something that should be put off until you are a late intermediate or advanced lifter, or do you use this type of programming with early intermediates as well?
