Hi Andy,
My parents can only train once a week due to schedule issues. There are also other problems which prompt me to alter the program a little:
- Dad (60) has shoulder issues (had a frozen shoulder, lost mobility ever since) which make it impossible to rack the bar either high or low (had a frozen shoulder). So he does only front squats (with straps).
- Mum (57) has vitiligo and does not tolerate the bar rubbing on her shins and thighs. She does not want to do squats either because she refuses to rack the bar (front or back). So she does leg presses instead. Additionally, I successfully taught her to deadlift correctly but she now refuses to do it any longer or she does it with the bar far away from her.
My questions are:
- Should I have mom do 6 x 10 on leg presses with ascending sets (final two being sets across)?
- What can I do once she refuses to deadlift?
- Are 5-pounds jumps per week ok?
