Brent,
Looking into programming a HLM routine and wanted your opinion on something like this.
Day 1: Day 2: Day 3:
Squat (heavy) 5x5 sets across Squat (light): 3x5 10% reduction Squat (medium) 4x5 5% reduction
Incline Bench (medium) Press (light) 5x5 sets across Bench (heavy) 5x5 sets across
Chins (light) Deadlift (heavy) top set of 5 BB Rows (medium) 4x8
Progression on the 5x5 would 2.5-5lbs per week, eventually tapering to 5 sets of 3 reps and ending with 5 sets of 1 rep
If this is for you it would be helpful to know your age, weight, height and recent best lifts.
It is for me...
Age: 32
height: 5 foot 10 inches
weight: 220
best Lifts:
Squat: 300x5
Deadlift: 325x5
Press:170x2
Bench: 225x5
Sounds reasonable. Might need to tweak the % off set on medium and light days. Typical Rx is 20% off on Light and 10% off on medium. 4 sets of 5 at 5% off will likely be too much stress on medium day. Consider the standard 3x5 @ 10% reduction instead.
Thanks Brent.
