There was a great podcast on this very topic from Barbell Logic not long ago. Go ahead and run NLP. It may be "shorter" than if you came in without the 5x5 background, but you'll still see progress over a number of workouts.
Male 46 yrs
5'11"
225 Lbs
I've been doing Strong lifts 5x5 for about 8 months
Squat 320 5x5
Bench 200 5x5
Press 135 5x5
Row 170 5x5
DL 320 1x5
I'm still making progress but recovery is getting hard, I bought the Starting strength book and The Barbell prescription and the app. I've ordered the practical programming book. Great books. I've been watching lots of the videos on You tube.
I'm still confused as to what programme I should be doing when I switch from 5x5. Should I just start the NLP on the app, is 3x5 enough? or should I be looking at an Intermediate programme? I presume the practical programming book will help when it arrives. I'm in New Zealand and there are no decent strength coaches where I live, just idiot personal trainers with a certificate from who knows where.
Thanks

Thanks Jeff,
I just listened to that Pod Cast. That's exactly what I was talking about.
