HLM Template For Wife
My wife just finished an LP( it was abbreviated, as she’s not a rank novice) for her squat with 192.5x3x3. She’s 36 5’5 160ish. I was planning to deload her for the rest of the week, then start her on an HLM program at the beginning of next week. I’m thinking of something along the lines of this:
Heavy
170x3x6
Light
152.5x3x4( 90%)
Medium
160x3x5(95%)
Say she runs this successfully for a couple of months, then progress begins to slow/ program becomes stale. At this time a decision can be made to deload and reset the program, or to “run it out”. For the latter I was thinking:
Phase 2:
Heavy
6x1
Light
4x2(90%)
Medium
1x3(95%),2x3( back offs at 5% less than the top set, will be the same load as the light day doubles).
I’ve ran HLM somewhat similar to this with decent success, and I’m hoping it will work for her as well. Does it sound logical Brent? Thanks for taking a look.

I think this looks pretty good. You sir have been paying attention.

Yea, I’ve paid attention to what works. I like the HLM templates where stage 1 is driven by volume, then stage 2 is driven by intensity while volume is tapered off.

Also, great job getting your wife through the novice LP and into intermediate level. Please tell me you are not also actively coaching her lifts.

No, that doesn’t work out very well. She doesn’t like me critiquing her. Unless she’s doing something that is obviously wrong( she’s a pretty good lifter who has attended a seminar and has in person coaching with Steve Hill and Walter Palmer on several occasions) I just opt to have an SSC look at here lifts occasionally.

Smart man. Once again you have clearly been paying attention.
