    Brent,

Currently in the middle of my LP.
    Age: 33
    Height: 5 feet 10 inches
    Weight: 215

    Squat: 285 3x5
    bench: 205 3x5
    Press: 135 3x5
    Deadlift: 300 1x5

Is standard procedure as 3x5 runs out to switch to a heavy set of 5 and 2 lighter backoffs? Or switch to 5x3. I know examples are given in Practical Programming just wondering if there is a recommended method.

It can depend on how you are missing reps.

If you get your first set and miss the next two it would be fine to do one top set and two back offs. If you are missing reps in your first set you might consider 5x3. One size does not fit all in this case.

That makes sense, thanks for the quick response.

That's very helpful for me too, thanks.
